Your Writing Prompt

Behind The Door

Red Door

You look distressed, rushed off your feet. You look like the wind has caught you off guard, when once upon a time you were the thing that winded me. You look a little nervous, and in a sick way I am excited that the sight of me would do this to you, the way once, the abscence of you had done the same to me.

Your skin is a red-brown hue, your hair jet black. You look like a beautiful grim reaper, but I'll never tell you that.

Well four minutes have passed and I've stared blankly at you after you said "I love you". I respond with a laugh. It echoes through my house, traces every corner and comes back to meet us. It rushes into the street, filling the night sky and your heart races after it. I say nothing because laughter usually keeps the company of comedy. So that is that. The door closes and I return to my life. I hope this unsettles you enough to never knock on my door again.
